This is how the Thorian crypt looks in the Watchtower's Crypts and Arenas list. The Watchtower filters by rarity and level but not by crypt type, so you pick it out by its picture.
Thorium Ore also turns up in Rare and Epic crypts, but the Thorian crypt is where it comes from every time. Common crypts go up to level 25, so that is the highest level to farm it at.
Sets that need Thorium Ore
Each of these pieces takes one Thorium Ore at the quality of the piece you craft. Four materials of one quality combine into one of the next.

Let a bot run these crypts
Its Explore specific crypts only option sends your captains only to the crypts you tick, like the Thorian crypt, and skips the rest of the list. TB Crypt Auto-Explorer is a Chrome extension that runs the crypt loop for you: it sets the Watchtower filter, sends Carter (or three captains at once), speeds up the march with your own speedups and sends him out again the moment he's home. It never buys Tar or anything else.
